Compound Interest is fabulous if you are on the right side of it.  In fact, improving just 1% each day for 365 days results in a number 37.78x higher than what you started with.

To give you an example.  If you had $1,000, a 37.78x increase would be equal to $37,783.40 by the end of the year. ($1000 * (1 + 1%) ^ 365).  Perhaps your familiar with some of these numbers from this famous blog

Looking ahead to the prize at the end of the tunnel is fools gold.  For the most part, you can’t even fathom the things that need to be done at the end of your business journey because you don’t know what they are yet.  And that is okay.  It is better to get started and improve gradually each day than spend your days paralyzed afraid to put yourself out there. You won’t be good enough until you are there.

First of all, you are plenty enough right now.  We all are.  Second of all, “perfection is the enemy of good enough”.  As you near your goal, perfection will become more and more attainable and the bar above “good enough” which you clear grows over time. This is why I recommend starting with your goal and working backwards.  If you can do one thing better than the day before each day, then you are well on your way.

Say you are trying to get your Notary business from earning $1,000 to $5,000/month.  You might not even know about the platforms and techniques and conferences that are necessary to get you from $4000 to $5000 monthly, but you do know you have to do something better than you did the day before at $1000 in order to get to $4000 in the first place!

So just start where you are!  We all do!  Don’t compare your best work in Year 1 to somebody else’s best work in Year 10.  That person has been working 10x longer than you and compounding their success.  You can too!  The best way to be great at anything is to be good, repeatedly.

As your knowledge base grows from your hard work, you begin to figure out what works to grow your business.  Now that you know what works, do more of it. You also know what sucks, don’t do it and change it!  The more you do the right things, the more you will feel the flywheel effect.
Momentum comes from something started long ago.

There is no such thing as an overnight success.  Michael Jordan wasn’t just born good at basketball, he practiced.  Amelia Earheardt didn’t climb into a plane and fly solo across the transatlantic.  She was flying and training for over a decade. Mark Cuban didn’t come to own the Dallas Mavericks by happenstance.  He didn’t take a vacation for seven years while starting his first business.

Grand things come to those who do a little bit of cumulative work. Repeatedly.

Over and over.
